It continues through the narrow streets and squares of the village of Vinci, where, in the Church of Santa Croce, the baptismal font where Leonardo was baptized is preserved.
The tour goes on to the adjacent thirteenth century Rocca dei Conti Guidi, headquarters of the Leonardo Museum: here, with the help of scale models, you can discover the secrets of machines and devices designed by the genius.
The visit of Vinci can be combined with the guided tour of the Medici Villa in Cerreto Guidi (XVI century), one of the Medici family’s hunting residence built in 1561 at the behest of Granduca Cosimo I. Here, in 1574, was consumed the killing of Isabella de ‘Medici, Cosimo I’ s daughter, strangled by her husband because of her infidelity.
